sunday funday

i went to church today. singles ward style. i will admit...i love one o'clock church. there is no rush to wake up early, and having too little of time to get ready is never an issue.

the singles ward is an interesting place. like, i don't mind student wards. but singles wards....are open to all ages. i mean, anyone that is single and ready to mingle....which means there are forty year olds thrown into the bunch. why, people? why?

it was a good meeting. we sang like five patriotic songs. celebrating america's birthday every day, all day. it's fine.

i came home and had a bbq with the fam. mom made us eat outside in the backyard, around our table that seats FOUR people. there are six of us. why? because it's family time. don't mind the bees swarming the table, the blazing heat, or the fact that two family members are sitting on tall stools a foot above everyone else, and that we are all crammed way too close for comfort. i was grumpy, but i did enjoy that blue cheese burger.

now i'm digesting my food while nestled in my bed, eating lemon drops. my tummy was granted lots of gifts today. lucky pooch.

welp. here i am.

this time, i think i'm here to stay. i went on hiatus for a while....but mind you, it was needed.

i had to get my life in order. i had to get my thoughts in order. i had to get my priorities in order.

check. check. check. and check.

i feel great!! there was a time (if you're smart, you'd realize it was during my blogging break)...
that i wasn't so sure of everything. i wasn't so sure of the direction i was going with everything.
i had a great boyfriend, living in the magical logan, and the money tree was thriving extremely well!

ha.

my boyfriend was great. he was. but things took a shift. ahhhhh the demise of every relationship...a shift. yeahyeahyeah. to be quite honest, he was a major reason i was living in logan for the summer. how can you give up a summer love!? cue the cheesy music and frollicking through sunflower fields.

but really. that was my mindset.

well, now let's cue the depressing music and empty cupboards for the next month. because i was starving to death with not a penny in my pocket. i was working at the car wash, and they conveniently never needed me to work, as the weather was pretty undependable. you'd think he'd have my back! curse you, weather.

so my bank account was pretty non-existent. (nothing new, but this was to a whole new level).

so.....i couldn't really afford to live in logan.

and then i started missing my cute fam, and realized i never really saw them. i thought, you know, this is kind of a waste of time to be staying in logan for a boy that i'm not even going to marry. sure, i "love" logan, but sometimes it's okay to realize i can love other places, too.

logan was super fun. obviously, i had a complete and utter blast. i pretty much wanted to marry the land of logan. however, i realized it can be okay to admit that although i LOVED it, i was ready to move on a little bit.

this is where the story gets hard to put into words. each time i tell the story (which has been a lot, lately), i just kind of make a bunch of stuff up. "uh....and then....so...really....i mean.....yeah." that's how it actually really sounds.

but, faithful-followers-that-i-probably-lost-during-that-blogging-break-forgive-me, i owe it to you to explain myself. ready, go.

okay....so i feel like i loved it in logan. my reply to anyone and everyone that asked me how i was liking school was, "ohhhhhhh my goodness gracious, i am having the time of my life. i love it more than anything in this world. i never want to come home! i'm just having the time of my life!"

this was true.

shortened version of the story: i had a blast, but i'm moving on and focusing my life in another direction.

i'm moving to the land of milk and honey.

(that means provo, you guys).

wait....what....jasmine just said she's moving to provo? go re-read that, make sure you got that right.

yes. yes, you did.

um, yeah. who would have guessed? ten points for you, if you are raising your hand. you go, glen coco.

i didn't think i'd ever say it. i didn't think i'd actually be doing it! but i am.
i go off of my internal feelings a lot in life. if you ask my mom, you'd know that i literally just go with my own wind. but, my own wind always takes me where i need to go. (my own wind isn't necessarily MY own wind. i think it's a greater wind). besides the point, i listen. if you know my utah state story, you would remember that i never even actually visited logan before applying, getting my apartment, and having the feeling that it is where i needed to be. let me tell ya, it was. it was the place i needed to be. in MANY more ways than none.

but there has been this rather annoying tugging at my emotions to go to provo. i've pushed it aside for months, because "i'm having the time of my life in logan." but i finally caved and listened. so, here i go.

i'm living in liberty square with my two great friends, laurel and christina. christina is my dear friend from USU! she is going to BYU, and laurel and i are going to UVU. i'm doing the whole wannabe BYU student route. cue the gagging of audience members.

however, i have this feeling that it's where i'm supposed to be. and really, that's why the story is so hard to tell. because people don't always understand feelings. but i think they are the most powerful things in this world.

so, i'm listening to it. and here i go.

craving summertime

i made it to my earliest class today (ten points for me)!
brynne and i even got bagels on campus.
i was so excited to have honey almond cream cheese..
i haven't had it since early morning runs to einsteins in high school.

so you can imagine how bummed i was when the honey almond smear actually tasted like
plain cream cheese with almond slivers.
i don't even like whole almonds.

so that was a bummer.

the greatest part of my day was when i was texting my dad during class.
of course he called me,
so i picked up and whispered,
"hey daddy, i'm in class. wanna hear what my professor is saying?"

and he was like,
"jasmine, you need to get off your phone. and you need to get off now."

ha. ha. ha. ha

good grief, i love him.

annnnnnnnnnd i'm sick of school.
have i made that clear?
i'm ready for summer.
which is good that it's summer in two weeks.
yay.

do you want to know what's getting me through this week?

i'll tell you....

i'm going to moab this weekend to go skydiving!
yes, i am going again.

i couldn't be more excited.

welcome back

well, guess what??!

I'M BACKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!

i mean, i haven't blogged in a good two months. and to be honest, i started missing it.
i thought i would write in my journal more if i stopped, but i didn't.

so
here i am.
and i couldn't be happier.

i think a lot has been happening in my life lately.
i needed to get a grip on everything.

i think life is one big learning experience.
it's a beautiful thing.
i've been reflecting a lot on LIFE lately.

i think for a little while i didn't feel exactly like myself.
which sounds strange, i know.
but i just wasn't.

looking back,
i wasn't the most ME i could be.
that sounds confusing, but let me elaborate.

i'm so used to living with myself.
i'm so used to my personality.
i'm so used to my humor.
i'm used to my thoughts.

because i've been living with myself for almost 19 years.

but this last little bit,
i think i've been a little bit different.
not to anyone else,
but to ME i have been.

my thoughts were a little different,
my personality was a little different,
my moods were a little different.

i was busy dating a guy that i think i was dating for all the wrong reasons.
i needed to let him go.
and that was hard.
it was hard to realize and understand that.

i was living in an environment i wasn't used to living in,
where people do different things than i would do.
that was hard.
it's hard to be in a place that you don't feel comfortable being.
and i think i got used to feeling uncomfortable.
which, in turn, made me feel different.

and then, all of a sudden, i realized that i was ME
....i was still the funny, loud, crazy ME
but not fully.

i realized i was holding myself back in more ways than none.

and now i feel wonderful.

i'm back to the me-est me i could be.

life is wonderful.
i honestly don't know how i am living this life that i love.

it's summertime here in logan.
today was 80 degree weather!
the pool here at oakridge is officially open!!!!!
you can bet your bottom dollar that we were laying out and enjoying the pool all day
today.
i had the biggest smile on my face.
i love it here.

i'm so excited for summer.
i'm going to be living here for the summer through the school year.
i feel so excited and lucky to be here.
it's strange to think that when i moved out last year,
i MOVED OUT.
like....i'm living here.
for reals.

i can't wait to move in to apt. 10 E with brynne and aubree.
i can't wait to ride my bike every day.
i can't wait to drive to bear lake to go swimming.
i can't wait to stay out having bonfires in the canyon.
i love it here.
i love everything about it.

i feel lucky to have such wonderful friends.
i feel lucky to have my wonderful family.
i feel lucky to have a swimming pool in my backyard (shared with hundreds of other people MY AGE).
i feel lucky to have a job.

i'm a lucky girl.

i also have to take the time to acknowledge that i KNOW people come into your life for a reason.
things happen for a reason.
i feel so lucky that i met brynne back in august.
who would have guessed she'd become my closest friend.
it's unreal to think about how alike we are.
we have the exact same thoughts.
she understands me perfectly.
and we're freaking hilarious together.
all the time.

cheers to life.
cheers to a GREAT life.

personal

i don't know if anyone still reads this.
i've been taking a blogging break.
mainly because i got a little bored and felt repetitive.
i feel like i've been so busy.
so much has been going on.

i started working at AutoSpa Car wash.
it's perfect,
because it's RIGHT next to my apartment complex.
i can leave at 8:58 and be to work by 9 am.
what a groovy setup.

i'm the cashier,
and i work tuesdays and thursdays from 9 am to 6 pm.
it's a long shift,
but it's nice that it's twice a week and out of the way.

i feel so blessed, so much.
it just amazes me how my life just works out the way it needs to.
i am overwhelmed when i think about how much i have.
i've never had a problem finding a job.
i literally walked into the car wash and was given the job.
i was looking to work tuesdays and thursdays, and they were looking for someone to work those days.

how do i have so much?
why do i have so much?

here i am.
in the most perfect time of my life.
living my dream that i carried my entire senior year.
all i could do was think of THIS moment.
right now.

and here i am.
here i am living on my own.
going to college.
buying my own groceries.
laughing with friends.
gaining experiences.
and able to meet extraordinary people everyday.

i've always been a thinker.
i think a lot.

and today i've been thinking so much about PEOPLE.
we're amazing, truly.

i mean, everyone has a story.
everyone has a past, and a future.
everyone IS good.
i mean, i don't believe that anyone wants to be or do BAD.
everyone has struggles.
everyone has accomplishments.

but we're all just people.
simply, people.

and sometimes i take people for granted.
the people driving by me in their cars.
the people i pass in the grocery store.
the people that have lives and amazing stories.

sometimes i forget that we all have something to say.
something to convey to others.
we all have pieces of ourselves that are left with people.
and others leave pieces of themselves with us.
if we take the time to realize it.

that's one reason why i feel blessed.
i am able to work at a cashier and take people's money.
that's what the job is.

but, it's so much more.

my job is to gather the pieces of people and keep them with me.

does that make sense?

probably not, i have a very strange mind.

but that's how i'm looking at it.

my job is to truly learn about the people that come into AutoSpa.
not as customers.
but as people that can teach me something.

today i did not want to work.
i was EXHAUSTED.
so tired.
and to be honest, working was the last thing i wanted to be doing.

and then i remembered a quote i recently heard.
it goes something like,
"every day can be either a good day, or a bad day. but....at the end of the day...the choice was yours."

oh, how i love that.

so i made sure to make it a good day.

i learned a lot from people today.

i learned patience from the man that had to wait for me to figure out the cash register.
and then had to wait forever for his car to be washed, because the washer broke down with his car in it.

i learned about a woman named jan who recently moved to Paradise, Utah
and has a fitness machine that she absolutely loves. i learned about the benefits of using the machine, and gained a friend in the process.

i learned how wonderful love is at all stages of life,
by the old man and woman who came in and were playfully interacting with each other.
the man shook his keys from across the room for a good ten minutes with a smile on his face,
right at his wife, who was perfectly content finishing her magazine.
i laughed the entire time.
it was adorable.

i learned that it's okay to open up big parts of your life to total strangers,
if the moment calls for it.
i learned this from the beautiful woman that mentioned a small detail of her life with me.
she casually told me that her daughter had just been severely burned last week.
i talked to her a little bit about if, and noticed that she really opened up to me.
she told me some personal experiences she had gone through,
and they were STRANGELY similar to my own.
i explained that i UNDERSTOOD her.
and she cried.
she said that she had been needing to hear those words.
she had been needing to realize that she was not alone.
and we talked about life.
she told me all about her life.
how she's 37 and has 7 kids.
she was married at 18.
she has always driven a crappy car, so she recently decided she would buy a brand new sports car.
she has always wanted one.
she told me that she loves making payments for it, because she WANTS to.
she loves it.
she's going back to school.
and works full time.

i felt like this woman's conversation with me taught me more than she will ever know.

and as she left,
she put her hand on the counter and just stared at me in the eyes.
as if saying, your soul just touched mine. you are my friend.
and then she whispered, "thank you."

how amazing is this life?
how amazing is it to know that we are all the same.

what a wonderful thing to know.

this has been a very deep post.
congrats if you read the whole thing.
love love love you.
whoever you may be.

you are my friend.

playing catch up

oh hey there,
faithful followers.

so it's been quite a while since i last posted.

i've just been busy living the high life
and not thinking about blogging.

but to fill you in:
life is great.

i went on a cute date last week to the yummiest chinese restaurant on main street
(sponsored by adam).
i went home to salt lake to watch bradley play in the state championship basketball game.
sadly, they lost.
and to be home with mommy cindy for her birthday.
we went to the grand america.
such a fun time.

and i got a ticket for
$165
for speeding in logan canyon.
yeaaaaaahhhh....i'm upset.
so i'm going to try and go to court and fight it.
or see if i can pay it back by doing community service or something.

it snowed a lot yesterday.
brynne and i got caught in a blizzard on a five mile walk to the tanning salon.
we were in work out capris.
good thing i had my earmuffs handy.
and a cell phone to call adam for a ride.

we went to the traditional taco tuesday.
it was the best one yet.
we were STARVING and ate three whole tacos.
three.
new record.

i got a job at the car wash right by my apartment complex!!!!!
yayyyy.
now i'll be employed,
making money,
AND working with HOT boys.
mmmmm.

the plan is to stay in logan for the summer :)
working, swimming, and riding bikes with brynne.

it's a good life.

today i took a nap and now i'm eating hershey's kisses.

la la love you.
